Bluegrass benefit for Georgia tornado victims

adairsville-tornadoRepeated examples over the years have showed that bluegrass people are some of the most generous folks around ? always quick to help someone in need within our community, either through benefit shows or direct assistance.

Just such a concert is scheduled for this weekend, a fundraiser for the people of Adairsville, GA who were devastated by a tornado touchdown on January 30. The storm was estimated to have been a high-range EF-3 tornado, 900 yards wide, which left one dead and at least 17 injured on top of approximately $75 million in damages across its 22 mile swath.

A town of less than 5,000 residents, Adairsville saw 60 structures destroyed and several hundred damaged, including one of their largest employers,?Daiki Corp.

On Saturday (2/23) 5 bluegrass bands will perform at the Adairsville Travel Plaza, with all proceeds going to tornado victim relief. Participating are Barbwire, Frances Mooney & Fontana Sunset, East Dixie Boys, Old Mill Road, and Cherokee Cut Ups.

If you live within an easy drive of Adairsville ? located on I-75 between Atlanta and Chatanooga ? you might consider attending. More details can be obtained by calling?678-246-8276.

Folks who can not attend but would like to send a donation, can direct them to:

109 S King St
Calhoun, GA 30701
