The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is North America?s largest transportation network, which moves approximately 2.4 billion New Yorkers a year on its subways, buses, railroads, bridges and tunnels. MTA Headquarters (MTAHQ) is a public benefit corporation chartered to provide general oversight, planning and administration to its seven operating agencies which are: MTA New York City Transit, MTA Long Island Rail Road, MTA Long Island Bus, MTA Metro-North Railroad, MTA Bridges and Tunnels, MTA Capital Construction Company, and MTA Bus Company.

Responsibilities:
Selected Unpaid Internship-eligible law students (or Law School graduate with proven externally funded furlough or deferred attorney status) will provide assistance to the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsels and staff attorneys on a variety of legal issues involving General Corporate Law, Real Estate, Financing, Environmental, Condemnation, Employment, Pension Law, and various litigation matters. The interns will assist by performing legal research, writing briefs and memoranda, and drafting documents in connection with matters such as: First Amendment issues; contractual disputes with public or private entities; real estate agreements; condemnation proceedings; licenses; public financing; bond issues; intellectual property; Freedom of Information Law; equal employment; labor and human rights issues; and various litigation matters.
